Living the Spiral Way — A Field Guide for the New Human

The Spiral Handbook is a book to use when your life may still look perfectly fine from the outside, but something in you knows that the way you have been living no longer works.

Perhaps you are tired of saying yes when you mean no. Perhaps you keep doing what is expected of you while feeling increasingly absent from your own life. You may be carrying too much, moving too quickly, or trying to think your way through something your body has already begun to resist.

The Handbook does not offer a five-step plan for fixing this. It helps you slow down enough to notice what is actually happening, understand what is asking to change, and find the next step that is honest and possible.

The book begins with the moment when an old way of living starts to come apart. It looks at how other people, old expectations and the environments we live and work in affect us. It explores how to listen to the body without assuming that every feeling is a fact. And it asks how all of this changes the way we rest, work, love, lead, make decisions and use technology.

Each chapter explains what it is for and gives you questions and simple practices to use in real situations. You can read the book from beginning to end, or go directly to the chapter that meets you where you are.

This book is for people who often notice the mood in a room before anyone speaks; who feel pressure building before they can explain why; or who have been told that they think too much, feel too much or take things too deeply.

It is also for people who have already read the books, had the conversations and tried to understand themselves—and still find that insight alone has not changed the way they live.

I wrote the Handbook because I needed something I could use while remaining inside my actual life: while raising a child, leading a company, caring for people, making difficult decisions and carrying responsibilities that could not simply be put aside. I did not need another reason to withdraw from the world. I needed a way to remain myself while meeting it.

The words New Human do not describe a more advanced or superior person. They describe a human being who is becoming more whole: someone who can feel deeply without being carried away by every feeling, accept help without handing over responsibility for their life, use technology without becoming dependent upon it, and belong to something larger without losing themselves inside it.

“This is not a book about becoming a better version of yourself. It is about noticing where you have had to leave yourself behind—and beginning to come back.”

You can read the current edition of The Spiral Handbook online or download it as a PDF.

The words are there and the book can be read and used now. It is not yet the final designed edition: some illustrations and ritual-card images are still being made, and parts of the language may continue to change as the work grows.

What you find here is the book as it exists today—available now, without pretending that it has reached its final form.
